Yarmouth Clam Festival 2012
Organized by the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce, to
assist non-profit organizations that help support the Town of
Yarmouth, Maine, the 47th
Annual Yarmouth Clam Festival, will likely attract tens of
thousands of people. You will want to be one
of them!
When is
the 2012 festival? The 2012 Clam Festival will be held on
July 20th, 21st and 22nd.
When
is the festival in 2013, 2014? Since the three
day festival always begins on the third Friday in July, it's easy to
determine when future Clam Festivals will be held.
The Yarmouth Clam Festival 2013 will run from July
19th
through July 21st, and the Clam Festival 2014 will take place from
July 18th through July 20th.
Where
is the festival located? In the coastal Town of Yarmouth,
Maine (between Portland
and Freeport).
The
Festival center
can be reached from Route 115 (see below for directions to the
Yarmouth Maine Clam Festival).
Why
go to the festival? Well, for starters how do
6,000 pounds of clams sound?
But clam chowder, clam
cakes, fried whole clams, clam strips, and steamed
clams, are not the only thing on the menu at the Yarmouth, Maine
Clam Festival...
...all of the traditional Maine fair food that
you are accustomed to will also be on hand, including Maine lobster
rolls
- thousands of them!

How
do you get to the Yarmouth Clam Fest? Yarmouth,
Maine
is located along Casco Bay between Portland
and Freeport, and is
easily reached from points north and south.
- From
Boston: Approximately 120 miles. Take
I-95 into Maine. Follow I-95 North to I-295 toward Falmouth.
Take Exit 51 to U.S. Route 1 toward Yarmouth and Cumberland.
Keep right at the fork in the ramp, merging onto U.S. Route
1. Turn right onto Route 115, which is Main Street.
This takes you to the Festival center.
- From
Portland: Approximately 12 miles. Follow I-295 toward
Falmouth. Take Exit 51 to U.S. Route 1 toward Yarmouth
and Cumberland. Keep right at the fork in the ramp, merging
onto U.S.
Route 1. Turn right onto Route 115, which is Main Street.
This takes
you to the Festival center.
- From
Points North (Gardiner and surrounding areas): Follow I-95
(Maine Turnpike) South to Gardiner where the highway splits.
Take Exit 103 to I-295 South toward Portland. Take
Exit 17 to U.S. Route 1 toward Yarmouth. Turn right onto
Route 115, which is Main Street. This takes
you to the Festival center.
Where
is
Yarmouth Clam Festival parking? The Festival
offers a free parking lot,
in addition to several Fundraiser parking lots. The parking
fee for the Fundraiser lots varies depending on proximity to the
Festival center.
Handicap parking is also available at one of
the Fundraiser lots.
Protect the environment by riding your bike and
the Yarmouth Clam Festival Bicycle Valet Service will be happy to park
your bike for you - for
FREE!
You can also get to Yarmouth, Maine by train, or bus...
The Amtrak Downeaster train -

- www.concordcoachlines.com - both serve Portland, Maine.
Once there, a cab from Portland to the Yarmouth Festival is
around a 15
minute ride.

There are several places to stay in
Yarmouth, Maine, but if you have
problems finding a room locally, nearby Portland and Freeport (near
equal
distance from Yarmouth) offer great
Yarmouth Clam Festival lodging accommodations.

As a result, the area has an abundance of inns,

For the more adventuresome there are campgrounds
near Yarmouth, Maine. The Recompence Shore Campground and
Desert of Maine are only minutes away in Freeport, with other camping
areas in surrounding towns.
However, since the Yarmouth Clam Festival occurs
during the height of Maine's busy summer tourist season, it is best to
plan ahead if you hope to visit overnight.
