Staying in Bar Harbor and The Music Festival

Where are some nice places to stay in Bar Harbor?

Does "The Maine Festival" still exist? We heard a group called "Inanna" there about 5 years ago in late August/early September and would like to attend this festival again.

Hi Phyl... There are a number of great places for lodging in Bar Harbor and "nice" will depend on what type of experience you are looking for. For instance...

There are resort style hotels located in both downtown Bar Harbor and in more private settings along the coastline on the outskirts of town...

...there are also great inns and bed and breakfasts within an easy walk to the downtown restaurants and shops, and there are lots of motels and hotels throughout Bar Harbor and the surrounding villages and towns.

My recommendation is that you check out these TripAdvisor traveler reviews of hotels in Bar Harbor, Maine, B&B's, inns and motels. I have found reviews like these invaluable in planning my own trips.

As for "The Maine Festival"...

Could it be The Bar Harbor Music Festival that you are referring to? Not having heard of The Maine Festival, I called the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce. They had not heard of it either. However, the Music Festival has been around for awhile and does take place in the summer.

I was told that there will be another Bar Harbor Music Festival in 2011, but the date has not yet been set. In the interim, you can periodically check the Music Festival website for updates.

On your last visit to Bar Harbor I hope you were able to see sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. If not, it's an experience not to missed next time around! I hope you enjoy your trip.
