Stage Neck Inn York Harbor, Maine
Situated between Kittery and Ogunquit, with a
spectacular view of York Harbor, York Harbor Beach, and the Atlantic
Ocean, the Stage Neck Inn
is one of the most popular hotels in southern Maine.
And for good reason. According to the
Inn...
...Travel
+ Leisure recently listed the Inn
as one of the top
four hotels in "Kennebunkport
and Southern Maine", and...
... the Inn is among only 12 properties in the
entire
United
States and the
only property in New England to have consistently earned AAA's coveted
Four Diamond
Award for Excellence since the rating system's inception
in 1976.
What else does this Stage Neck Inn in Maine
have to
offer?
In their own
words... "Stage Neck Inn's regal setting,
perched atop a
small peninsula
overlooking the ocean, river, beach and harbor is complemented by a
warm staff and extensive resort amenities. Quite simply, there is a
wealth of activities and dining options available onsite, or one can
merely find a quiet place to relax and renew one's spirit by day and
take meals in your cozy guest room.'
'York Harbor is part of The Yorks (York Harbor,
York Village and York
Beach), a collection of
villages with
buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The quaint,
small-town feel of this area is enhanced by some of southern Maine's
most spectacular natural treasures - Long Sands Beach, the
York Harbor,
Agamenticus Mountain - as well as other must-see locales such as the
Nubble Light, York's
Short Sands Beach and miles of sandy beaches
broken abruptly by famed rocky shoreline."
Stage Neck Inn, York Maine Lodging at its Finest
With warm ambiance and extensive resort
amenities...
"The Stage Neck Inn opened its doors in 1974 on
the site of another
historic hotel, The Marshall House. One interesting note about the
staff of Stage Neck Inn, there are several key employees who have been
with the Inn since the late 70's and early 80's. It's this love of the
property and long-term dedication to its customers that help set the
Inn apart.'
'This boutique hotel offers 58 guest rooms with a
choice of two double beds, or
one king-sized bed. Each room features plush terry robes and fine
linens, with breathtaking views of the York River, the Atlantic Ocean,
or York Harbor Beach.'
'After a day spent on the beach, at the Inn's
Olympic-sized outdoor
swimming pool, or enjoying membership privileges at The Yorks Tennis
and Golf Club, return to afternoon tea served in the upper lobby.'
'Need
some real pampering? '
'The Inn offers full spa services at its own, The
Spa at Stage Neck. Adjacent to The Spa are an indoor pool and fitness
room for guests' year round enjoyment.'
'The Inn is just minutes from the famed Kittery
Outlet Malls and
the national headquarters for Stonewall Kitchen (which now features a
cooking school - inquire about their "stay and learn" package).'
'Among other amenities, Stage Neck Inn York
Harbor, ME
offers...
- seasonal clay tennis courts

Stage Neck Inn Restaurants
"Although there are other dining choices in York,
Maine, none offer
the oceanfront setting of the Stage Neck Inn...
Harbor
Porches - The Inn's largest restaurant
and the setting for
oceanfront wedding receptions. Harbor Porches offers 270 degree
panoramic views of
the Atlantic Ocean. It's likely you will see a pleasure or fishing
vessel
going to/fro the Harbor while you're dining. Harbor Porches is
decorated to capture the spirit of the grand summer hotels of the
1920's. Menu choices are varied and range from classic seafood to fine
steaks and even hand tossed pizza.
Sandpiper Bar
& Grille - The Inn also has
a lounge area in
which you can enjoy a cocktail or, seasonally enjoy a more cozy setting
for your meal. The restaurant overlooks York Harbor Beach and features
a large gas fireplace - perfect for those chilly off-season Maine
nights.
Outdoor
Terrace - This space is a screened outdoor
area with a large, flat
screen TV, open seasonally. It boasts great views of the beach and the
ocean.
Harbor View
Room - This is the Inn's function room
and serves at the
setting for larger wedding receptions and corporate meetings."
Why the Name Stage Neck Inn?
The Stage Neck Inn hotel tells me that...
"In colonial times, fish was dried and salted to
preserve it for
transport and use through the long winters. This was done on long
tables called "stages" which were built out in the open areas near the
sea, away from towns and villages because of the pungent odors of the
fish. The site of Stage Neck Inn was once used for this purpose.'
'Once
known as "Stage Island", the area became named "Stage Neck" once a
causeway was built connecting the north eastern part of the island to
the mainland."
