Maine Lobster Picture
Great Maine
vacations and lobster -
they go
hand-in-hand, don't they? Yes! But, if
you have never seen a Maine lobster, and plan on eating one while
vacationing in Maine, you may want to check out a Maine
lobster picture
- before
you order one of these decadent
cold-water shellfish.
At a first glance, a whole Maine lobster, with all
those
parts, can be
somewhat intimidating. So, it may be best that you have had your
first
glimpse of one
here!

After all, the lobster
anatomy is a bit unique. It has two antenna, a set
of
bulging eyes, and ten legs, eight of which are walking legs.
Two of them...
...the ones located closest to the lobsters head,
are used as lobster
claws (the smaller is the lobsters pincher
claw and the larger is its crusher
claw).
The lobster body (adorned with a feathery tail) is
encased in either a hard shell or soft shell - depending on whether or
not it is a molting lobster - and contains little more than tamale and
a few strands of meat.
This saltwater delicacy is truly a
rarity to look at.
And
when you do see one, the color
of Maine
lobster - a grayish, brown, or a reddish,
orange - will depend on whether you first see it first as a fresh live
lobster, or as a
cooked lobster
Uncooked Fresh Live Maine Lobster
When are you likely to see fresh, live Maine
lobster, with the grayish, brown color? If you eat lobster
dinner at a Maine
lobster
pound, you will typically have an opportunity to see the
live
lobsters that are kept in their saltwater holding tanks. At
some
restaurants, you may even have the option to choose the lobster that
you would like cooked for your own meal.
And, if you plan to buy
lobster to take home with you, or have whole lobster
shipped and delivered to your home, you will also be
purchasing live lobster...
....which of course means that you, or someone
else, will need to learn how to cook lobster. Thankfully, it
can be very easy if you learn how to steam lobster and
create some of the delicious Maine lobster recipes
that are prepared from cooked
lobster meat.

Cooked Maine Lobster
The Maine
lobster image that people most frequently have is that of
a fully cooked lobster, with reddish, orange
coloring. This is exactly how lobster is served in Maine
lobster shacks, lobster pounds, restaurants, and clambakes.
And although a cooked lobster may not look any
less intimidating than a
live lobster, it very is easy to learn how to eat a lobster.
Thankfully there are no rules...
