Airports in Maine near Rockland Maine Lobster Festival

I am coming from California and have always wanted to visit Maine. I am considering going to Maine during the Lobster Festival. What airport do we fly in to?

Hi Adette, Early August, when the Maine Lobster Festival takes place, can be one of the best times of year to visit Maine.

The Maine weather is generally very nice in August, and there are lots of activities and events taking place all across the state.

As for airports in Maine near the Rockland Maine Lobster Festival...

The closest airport to the Maine Lobster Festival is the Knox County Regional Airport in Owls Head, Maine. Cape Air serves this airport and currently has scheduled daily flights to Rockland from Boston.

However, the larger Portland International Jetport, located around 1 hour and 45 minutes from Rockland, could be the most convenient airport for you to arrive at on a connecting flight from California.

Several commercial carriers service the Portland, Maine airport, including Delta, Continental, U.S. Airways, AirTran, JetBlue and Air Canada (as of this writing, anyway!).

Another alternatives may be the Bangor, Maine Airport. It is nearly the same distance from Rockland as the Portland airport. However, other than a local carrier, only Delta and U.S. Airways service, that airport and with fewer flights.

If you fly into Portland, and drive from Portland to Rockland, you may want to leave yourself time for sightseeing. There are some really interesting Maine tourist attractions and Maine vacation spots along the way.
