A point-to-point race/tour through the hills of Western Maine, the event will feature 3 different distances, a 60K, 40K and 20K, and are limited to 175 participants in total. Awards and prizes will be presented to the top three male and female participants for each of the three races. Food and refreshments will be provided over the course of the event and a free post-race lunch will be served at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, where each of the three races conclude. Special lodging packages are available to participants as well as shuttle services to the races. For 60K participants, lodging includes an overnight stay at Grand Falls Hut on Saturday, March 16th and includes a complimentary dinner and race-day breakfast. The 40K offers both a lodger option and a non-lodger option. For those who wish to spend the night, the package includes dinner, accommodations, a race-day breakfast, and shuttle service to the race. The 20K is a great option for those who are looking for a one day race experience. It finishes at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center along with the other races. When: Sunday, March 17th at 8:00 AM for the 60K 9:30 AM for the 20K, 10:00 AM for 40K. Where: The 60K begins at Grand Falls Hut, the 40K begins at the Flagstaff Hut trailhead and the 20K begins at the Gravel Pit on Long Falls Dam Road. All three races conclude at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. Race day check-in for participants not spending Saturday night at the huts will be held from 7:00 – 8:15 AM at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center as well. Cost: $45 per person for the 20K $55 per person for the 40K and $115 for the race and lodging package $125 per person for the 60K which includes the required lodging package A discounted rate of $25 per person for teams of 6 or more (for High School and College participants only) is being offered. *Additional fees apply for participants requesting private room. Sunday, March 24, 2013 Each spring Maine's maple producers open their doors and welcome the public to Maine Maple Sunday. Many sugarhouses offer free tastings and live demonstrations on how maple syrup is produced. Some of them serve maple syrup treats, such as syrup on pancakes or ice-cream, and provide sleigh rides or wagon ride, live music and a variety of family activities. This unique Maine event, is held annually on the fourth Sunday of March. However, some sugarhouses have extended dates, while a few others have alternate dates.
